3 Things We Learned from Kuching FA’s victory against Ultimate FC
March 18, 2019Kuching FA secured their first win of the Liga M3 season last Saturday.
It wasn’t hard to say that the win was largely expected given the quality Kuching has after signing former Sarawak FA players.
Almost half of Kuching’s
players are former Sarawak players. That gives them plenty of quality
especially since the Liga M3 is a rung behind the Liga Premier where these
players use to play.
Nonetheless, here are key talking points from
the game against Ultimate FC which Kuching won based on our observation, and
here they are.
1) Joseph
Kalang is key to Kuching’s success
The signing of Joseph
Kalang Tie, popularly known as JKT was a huge coup for Kuching and he is
showing everybody why. The Miri born midfielder scored two goals in the Liga M3
opening match and his presence in the team rallied his teammate to perform
admirably during the match. His
leadership and experience in the field makes him an invaluable member of the
Kuching set-up and would be key to bringing success to Kuching this season.
2)
Kuching players need to be fitter
Kuching seemed a bit
lethargic as the game progressed allowing Ultimate FC to press forward. The
victory of Kuching also came with three possible injuries which could be linked
to fitness. While the extent of these injuries aren’t known, it could lead to
Kuching not achieving its ambition this season if more players get
fitness-based injuries. Kuching needs to
improve match fitness of their players if they would want to win the league.
3)
Kuching has one of the meanest defenses
Kuching has gone through three competitive matches this season and they have not leaked a single goal despite playing two of their matches away. The strong defense may be key to Kuching achieving its ambition this year with former Sarawak FA players like Hairol Mokhtar organizing their defenses.
