With less than five minutes on the clock, Hairuddin Omar spotted an opportunity in the box and blasted in a beautiful bicycle kick to bring home the championship for his Negeri Sembilan side with a 2-1 victory.

Brunei vs Sarawak FA in 1999

Brunei created history by winning the Piala Malaysia in 1999 when they defeated neighbors Sarawak 2-1 at Stadium Merdeka.  The match itself created history when it was the first time two sides from Borneo featured in the finals making it the first time the coveted trophy would be won by a side from Borneo. The match started promising with Rosli Liman scoring the opening goal in the 35th minute for Brunei.  Ramles Sari equalized in the 40th minute for Sarawak by dribbling past two defenders to put both teams’ level at half time.
