Sarawak FA interim head coach Denny Denny Dai’al is a very new name to Sarawak football fans, and all eyes now would be watching his next move.

Denny has a high task at hand, which is to turn the current Sarawak side into title challengers.  This assumption is since fans, as well as the management of the Football Association of Sarawak, do not seem to be patient enough when it comes to getting results.

Statistically, Sarawak had changed head coaches four times since January 2018 up to now, and Denny is the fifth head coach with still a long season to go in the Liga Malaysia.

Of the four coaches appointed by the Football Association of Sarawak, only Pengiran Bala left without him being ‘rested’, a term used in Malaysia football to signal the removal as head coach.

The other three, namely David Usop, Ian Gillan and Anai Igang were ‘rested’ after their brief stints.

With that in mind, Denny needs to start with on a positive momentum by winning the two friendly matches arranged by the Football Association of Sarawak in West Malaysia this week.

Like it or not, the pressure is on for Denny to deliver because he can’t use fitness and lack of team cohesion for poor results considering the matches are played in the middle of the season with players expected to be fitter and prepared after playing five matches.

Denny also needs to carefully plan his tactics with the current players at his disposal, and it would be quite a task since he didn’t choose the current set of players, hence making it even more difficult to plan his tactics carefully to avoid a defeat.

The fact that Sarawak would be playing teams higher ranked than themselves only adds to the pressure Denny would be facing as he really needs to win these matches regardless of where they stand in the Liga Malaysia.

With that said, we do sympathize of the task at hand for Denny because there doesn’t seem to be any positive outcome for him if he loses both friendly matches.

While a draw may keep fans negative comments at bay, a defeat would surely bring out a whole lot of negative comments towards both the Football Association of Sarawak and Denny hence affecting the morale of the team and the confidence of the fans.

That said, the only way to silence fans is to win both friendly matches.
