The legendary Portuguese forward put up a stellar performance to complete a spectacular comeback as Juventus won Atletico Madrid 3-0.

When Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in the summer of 2018, many football fans were shocked especially Real Madrid fans. Real fans were shocked that a player who had won a plethora of trophies with them had opted to join Juventus. Other football fans were outraged that Juventus would spend 100 million euros on a 33-year-old, who was supposed to be ‘past his prime’.

Irrespective of what those fans think, Cristiano showed us why Juventus bought him for that huge amount. The Italian giants have struggled with winning the Champions League, after reaching the Champions League final twice in 5 years. They knew that to win the Champions League, they needed a player with a Champions League pedigree, a player who has a mentality to winning the elite European trophy.

They sought after Cristiano Ronaldo after they saw that Real Madrid didn’t appreciate him. Juventus bought Ronaldo to help them win the Champions League, and they knew that he was the Champions League GOAT.

The former Manchester United star proved to us that Real Madrid made the right decision to get him. This opportunity came in their recent match against Athletico Madrid. In their last-16 second-leg clash against Atletico Madrid, Juventus needed a miracle to qualify for the next round, having lost 2-0 in the Spanish capital in the first leg.

Atletico has one of the best defenses in European football. They are experienced, highly tactical, and any team would sweat to a goal against them. In fact, they were on a run of five consecutive clean sheets in the Champions League.

It is at big games like this that Ronaldo shows up.

He showed us the reason why the Juventus board committed €341 million (£294m/$383m) in wages and transfer fee to sign him from Madrid.

Cristiano scored a sensational hat-trick that powered Juventus to a 3-0 win. He out-jumped Juanfran to nod in an impressive cross from Federico Bernardeschi to break the deadlock on 27 minutes. He scored another fantastic header just after half time to make it two. Finally, with just minutes remaining, Cristiano scored a penalty get his hat-trick and completing a mind-blowing comeback.

Juventus’s Champions League dream is still on and they have the best player in the Champions lead spearheading them.
