Luis Suarez

Liverpool is one of the greatest football clubs in the English Premier League.

They are also one of the most successful Premier League teams. Over the years, a number of magnificent players have graced the Liverpool shirt.

The Reds have signed many players that have helped them achieve things, but they also sold some players for many varying reasons. Although the prestigious Merseyside club has had a number of glorious players play for them over the years, there are some players whom the club sold and should regret selling.

These players have the ability to offer much more, and they have the potential to their mark at Anfield. They had already achieved a reasonable amount of success at the club.

Let’s find out 5 of those players whom Liverpool should never have sold.

1. Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez is arguably one of the best strikers in the world right now. The Uruguayan forward signed for Liverpool during the January transfer window of 2011 from Ajax.

During his time at Liverpool, Suarez was in an extraordinary form as he managed 82 goals in 133 matches for the club in four seasons.

He also won the Premier League Golden Boot and the Player of the Season in 2013-14. Suarez later moved to join Barcelona.

2. Javier Mascherano

Mascherano was part of a dynamic midfield that comprised of Alonso and Gerrard.  Mascherano brought solidity and quality in the Liverpool midfield.

During his time at Liverpool, Mascherano was an incredible defensive midfielder.  He was good at reading the game, breaking up attacks and tackling opponents. Like Suarez, Mascherano moved to Barcelona. And since then, Liverpool has never had a tenacious defensive midfielder like him.

3. Fernando Torres

Torres joined Liverpool as a young forward from Athletico Madrid, and has been an outstanding striker at Anfield. He scored an impressive 81 goals in 142 matches in all competitions for The Reds.

However, on 31 January 2011, Torres completed a move to Chelsea on a five-and-a-half-year contract. The Spaniard reportedly cost the Blues £50 million, and he went on to become a flop at Chelsea.

4. Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling is another player Liverpool should never have sold. He was bought from Queens Park Rangers in 2010 as a teenager. He went in to make a name for himself at Liverpool. After his impressive performance, he was courted by many top Premier League teams.

Finally, the English winger moved to Manchester City in 2015 for a fee of £44 million.

5. Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso was a mercurial midfielder in his prime. He was great at picking out passes and had an excellent technique. He played for Liverpool and helped them win the UEFA Champions League.

Surprisingly, he was sold to Real Madrid.

Which other player do you think that Liverpool should never have sold?
