Sarawak FA General Secretary Jeffry Lana today was reported to have said that the Football Association of Sarawak is hoping the Malaysia Football League will agree for an exception in the transfer embargo they are facing during the May 2019 transfer window.

According to news reports, Jeffry said that Sarawak is hoping that the Malaysia Football League will allow them to replace two import players in the current team with new ones.

The two imports likely to be offloaded were not named but fans have been speculating that both could be midfielders.

If speculations among fans are accurate, the two import players in Sarawak’s mind have not been starting regularly for Sarawak.

Many fans feel that their the duo’s spot should go to other more deserving import players who can make an impact and could be fielded regularly.

The transfer embargo therefore had put a stop to Sarawak’s intention to sign any new players and Sarawak is desperate to bring new blood into their team. The move is seen as crucial if they wish to stay in the Liga Premier next season.

This comes as the Kuching based team struggles to win matches both home and away in the league, and currently sit at 9th spot in the Liga Premier with only eight points.

Kelantan FA is currently bottom of the 11-team league with seven points, but this only shows how easy Sarawak could drop if they continue their current awful form in the league.

In fact, Kelantan is only at the bottom of the league because the Malaysia Football League deducted three points from the West Malaysian team for their failure to adhere to a recent FIFA ruling.

Sarawak therefore is hoping the Malaysia Football League would cut them some slack and allow them to at least change two imports this time around.

Nonetheless, it is uncertain if the Liga Malaysia organizers would give in to Sarawak’s request.

This comes as the team’s financial situation had been a subject of question in recent months and while dropping current imports for new ones would help the team in the league, it will only aggravate Sarawak’s financial situation in a long run.
