Asian has gradually become a top footballing continent. The Asian continent has produced great players who have featured for many top European clubs.

Today we take a look at the highest paid Asian footballers in the world.

5. Yuto Nagatomo – Galatasaray

Nagatomo is a Japanese footballer who plays for the Turkish football club Galatasaray. He joined Italian giants Inter Milan in 2011 and became the first East Asian player to join the famous Italian club.

He made over 200 appearances for Inter Milan leaving to join Galatasaray on a loan spell in January 2018. He made a move permanent in the summer of that year. The 31-year-old signed a two-year deal that sees his pocket a whopping salary of £65,000 per week.

4. Maya Yoshida – Southampton

Yoshida is the next Japanese defender on our list of the highest paid Asian players. The 30-year-old central defender joined Southampton on a three-year contract in 2012.

Yoshida is the captain of the Japanese national men’s football team and played a huge part in Japan’s round of 16 finishes at the 2018 World Cup. He reportedly earns £70,000 per week at Southampton.

3. Shinji Okazaki – Leicester City

Another Japanese player on our list is Shinji Okazaki joined Premier League side Leicester City in 2015, from German side FSV Mainz 05.

When his team won the Premier League in 2016, Okazaki became the second Japanese player ever to win a Premier League and also won the Asian International Player of the Year award. The Japanese striker earns £75,000 a week at Leicester City.

2. Son Heung-min – Tottenham Hotspurs

Heung-min Son has been turning heads at Tottenham this season. The diminutive Asian attacker is considered as one of the best Asian players of all-time. He is also the only South Korean on our list.

The 26-year-old Korean forward joined Tottenham in 2015, after moving from Bayer Leverkusen. Son reportedly earns £80,000 per week at the North London club.

1.  Shinji Kagawa – Borussia Dortmund

Shinji Kagawa is arguably one of the most successful Asian players in Europe after winning numerous trophies at Manchester United between 2012 and 2014. Kagawa holds the record of the first Asian player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League.

Kagawa moved to the Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2014 and earns a staggering £130,000 per week.
