Real Madrid’s push to defend their UEFA Champions League crown came to an abrupt end after a shock 4-1 loss to Ajax.

That result has cast a huge doubt over the future of coach Santiago Solari, with Madrid now looking to replace him.

The Argentinian coach is under a lot of pressure after having a terrible week that saw Madrid crash out of the Copa Del Rey, lose twice to Barcelona at the Bernabeu, and exit the Champions League.

After being eliminated from the Champions League, The Real Madrid board will be exploring their options for a new manager with plenty of candidates to choose from. Here are five managers who could replace Santiago Solari.

1. Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has been achieving successful results with Tottenham since he took charge. Recently, he secured qualification to the quarterfinals over Dortmund. Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted to move to Madrid since he bit won single silverware at Tottenham.

2. Jose Mourinho

Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho controversially left Real Madrid. However, he could still make a return to the Los Blancos. After he was sacked by Manchester United, Mourinho has been free and receiving multiple offers from many clubs. Mourinho was also very successful during his time at Madrid and could return.

3. Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte is yet to coach in Spain, so coaching Madrid would offer a fascinating challenge for him. Conte has been without a club since he left Chelsea in July 2018.

Conte was strongly linked to the club when Julen Lopetegui was sacked. Many Real Madrid fans believe Conte is the man to turn things around at Madrid.

4. Joachim Low

The World Cup-winning coach has been constantly linked to the Madrid job. For now, he has been coaching Germany since 2006. It looks very unlikely that Joachim Low will agree to join Madrid. However, he might decide to go and redeem himself after his shambolic World Cup performance with Germany.

5. Claudio Ranieri

Ranieri has experience in coaching in Spain. He has previously managed teams in Spain with Atletico and Valencia. Ranieri would be on the list of coaches to replace Solari because he was able to turn Leicester City into Premier League champions. Therefore, it would be interesting to see what he could do with Real if he is appointed as the manager.
