The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup will kick off in some months’ time.

The tournament will be the eighth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup and will be hosted in France. The quadrennial international women’s football competition will also be the first Women’s World Cup to use the video assistant referee (VAR) system. The defending champions are The United States of America, who will look to reclaim their trophy. Today, we are giving you the football rankings of the 10 best teams at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

10. Brazil

The Brazilian women’s national football team is the most successful women’s national team in South America. They won four editions of the Copa América championship and were runners up at the Women’s World Cup in 2007.

9. Sweden

Sweden has qualified for all eight of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since it was inaugurated. The Blågult were ranked 9th according to the latest football rankings of women’s football national teams.

8. Japan

Japan’s women’s national team or ‘Nadeshiko Japan’ is the most successful women’s national team from the Asian Football Confederation. They’re a formidable team and were runner-up in the last edition as the United States defeated them in the final

7. Netherlands

The Dutch women’s national team was the winner of the 2017 European Championships. The Oranje Leeuwinnen as they are fondly called will be hoping to replicate their strong performances at the World Cup in June. They are currently ranked 7th in the latest FIFA Women’s football rankings.

6. Australia

The Matildas are the best highest ranked Asian team going into the World Cup. Led by head coach, Ante Milicic, the Australian team will be looking to dominate the women footballing world.

5. Canada

The Canadian women’s national football team is the second most ranked team from North America. They are a very brilliant team and can be the dark horse of this World Cup.

Canada hosted the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by England.

4. England

The Three Lionesses are ranked at 4th place in the latest women’s football rankings. England has qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup four times and finished at third place in 2015. They are led by head coach Phil Neville.

3. France

The French women’s national team is one of the most consistent teams in the tournament. France had a fourth-place finish at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and that was its best finish overall at the competition. They are currently ranked as the third-best women’s team in the world.

2. Germany

The German women’s national football team won the World Cup in 2003 and 2007 since then they have struggled to win the prestigious trophy. As of 2019, Germany is ranked 2nd in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings. They are a very cohesive team and are strong favorites to win it this year.

1. The United States

The USWNT has won the competition more than any team in the world. They clinched the trophy in 1991, 1999 and just recently 2015. Going into these competitions, they are clear favorites, that why according to the latest Women’s football rankings they are 1st.
