The summer transfer window in the English Premier League is heating up as rumours fly around about possible signings.

Manchester United, led by former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is busy looking at possible signings and the likely departure of ace midfielder Paul Pogba is something he would wants to address quickly.

Pogba recently had made it quite clear he is looking for ‘new challangers’ and with Zenedine Zidane said to be interested to lure him to Real Madrid, the transfer out of United fro Pogba seems certain.

Due to that, Solskjaer is said to be keen to bring in Portugese midfielder Bruno Fernandes to his side to replace Pogba.

Fernandes had a fantastic season with Sporting CP where he scored 32 goals and 18 assist last season, making him a ‘huge signing’ for United.

As a matter of fact, United were considered front runners to sign Fernandes in the summer despite interest from Totenham Hotspurs as well.

However, recent developments have suggested there’s a slight problem with Solskjaer’s transfer target with rivals Liverpool joining the bidding war for the 24-year-old.

According to reports, Jurgen Kloop of Liverpool FC is also interested in the midfielder.

Reports by Mirror suggest that the Reds have already offered almost £40million for the Portuguese star but said that it is likely Sporting would want to evaluate the offer carefully since Fernandes does have an £86 million release clause written into his contract.

Liverpool nonetheless can’t be ruled out from the bid race for Fernandes as they come as title contenders domestically and had just recently been crowned European champions.

These, and the fact that Kloop aims to improve his midfield this summer makes for a perfect match, with Champions League football guaranteed for Fernandes shall he sign for the Reds.

With that said, United is expected to counter Liverpool’s offer for the midfielder, but it may just take more than a great offer to entice Fernandes to Old Trafford this summer.
