The La Liga leaders Barcelona will welcome Atletico Madrid to the Camp Nou in a crucial top of the table clash.

Barcelona is eight points clear at the top and will expect a win this Saturday which will move them to eleven points clear. However, a victory for Atletico this weekend would see them reduce the lead to five points and blow the title race wide open as we enter the final stage of the 2018/2019 La Liga season.

Read on to find out some expert insight on the Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid game.

Barcelona

The Blaugrana we’re fortunate to escape with a point, after an exhilarating 4-4 draw with Villarreal, which saw the club squander a two-goal lead. Although they came back in injury time to secure a point at the Estadio de la Ceramica, they will regret not taking all three points.

Barcelona will be without French winger Ousmane Dembele who is recovering from an injury, they will also be without Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal who is suspended for the match.

It is important to note that Barcelona will visit Manchester United next Wednesday for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. Hence, their main focus might be on that game.

Athletico Madrid

Atletico enters the match after a 2-0 win over Girona on Tuesday night, and that was their 18th league win this season. Diego Simeone’s men have the best defensive record of the La Liga this season after they conceded just 19 times in their 30 matches.

Atletico will also go to Camp Nou having come out victorious in six of their last seven in the league games.

Atletico are not playing in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so they will be more relaxed coming into this game.

Atletico will be without Diego Costa, Thomas Lemar, and Alvaro Morata after they picked up injuries and knocks.

Atletico Madrid has not won Barca away in the league since February 2006.
