The Liga Malaysia is indeed a league that is fast becoming attractive since it underwent huge management changes a few years back.

The league is now operated by a private company known as Malaysia Football League.  The function of the Malaysia Football League is to organize and operate the profesional side of the Liga Malaysia, hence pushing the league into higher standards in accordance to the Football Association of Malaysia’s wishes which is to have one of the best domestic leagues in South East Asia, if not the world.

Due to the increase in stature of the Liga Malaysia, the profile of Malaysian players had also increased with Malaysians now finding themselves listed in internationally recognized football related websites like Transfermarkt.com.

That said, today we look at the most highly valued Malaysian footballers in the Liga Malaysia.

Baddrol Bakhtiar, RM1.5 million

Coming in as the third most valued Malaysian player in the Liga Malaysia is Sungai Petani born Baddrol Bakthiar.  The veteren midfielder is no stranger to Malaysians as he holds not less than 45 caps with the national team.  What’s most interesting about Bakhtiar is the fact that he had only played for one team since he turned a professional footballer in 2005, serving only his home team Kedah FA until today.

Safiq Rahim, RM1.9 million

Safiq Rahim’s value seems to be enjoying life despite leaving cash rich Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club as he is valued as the second highest Malaysian player in the Liga Malaysia.  Also a veteran midfielder in the league, Safiq is a regular in the Malaysian football national team with over 75 caps and had played for KL Plus, Johor and Selangor before settling with his current club, Melaka United.

Natxo Insa, RM3.8 million

Insa was born in Spain but was given Malaysian citizenship through his grandmother, who was born in Sabah.  He played his first international cap for the country in 2018 and is the highest valued Malaysian player at RM3.8 million. Insa currently plays for Liga Super team Johor Darul Ta’zim and has already won five trophies since he played for the club.
