Celtic’s 2019/20 Home Kit Revealed: Inspired by Club’s First Ever Shirt in 1888

Scottish giants Celtic have revealed their latest 2019/20 home kit, which was created by New Balance.
Scottish giants Celtic have revealed their latest 2019/20 home kit, which was created by New Balance. The new home kit has the green and white hoops; however, they included a polo-style collar to the shirt. The shirt is similar to the club’s first shirt they wore in 1888.
Celtic agreed on a kit deal in March 2015 with American-based sportswear manufacturing company New Balance to replace Nike during the start of the 2015/16 season. That was the most expensive kit contract in the club’s history, which ended the 10-year deal with Nike.
Celtic’s new home kit was developed with the latest New Balance performance technology, which aims at providing comfort, breathability, and airflow. The kit was launched as part of New Balance Football’s ‘On To Victory’ campaign for the 2019/20 season. The campaign was inspired by a line from fan song, ‘Celtic, Celtic that’s the team for me.’
There is a star above the club’s crest on the kit, which remembers the time Celtic won the 1967 European Cup. There is also a Celtic cross on the back of the neck region in the kit.
While speaking at the launch, club captain Scott Brown said: “The new jersey is a great, classic design with a special reference to the Club’s history. I’ll be wearing it with pride next season, as will the rest of the Boys,”
New Balance Football General Manager Kenny McCallum also admitted that the new kit was designed to fully respect and celebrate the Club’s rich heritage while integrating the latest New Balance design technology.
Since May 2016, elite Asian betting company, Dafabet agreed on a four-year shirt sponsorship deal with Celtic; the Dafabet name is on the front of the club’s shirts. It will also be on the new kit.
Celtic is currently leading the table in the Scottish Premiership with 84 points.
