The exciting aspect of the Premier League is the fantastic players and their incredible performances. However, if you choose to ignore the players who score spectacular goals and the fancy attacking players, you will see the underrated players.
There are unsung heroes in Premier League who don’t get the same praises as their teammates. Here are the five underrated players in the English Premier League.
5. CESAR AZPILICUETA
The 29-year-old Spanish defender has been a consistent performer for the Blues. However, he doesn’t get the same accolades as his counterparts, Hazard, Kanté and Jorginho. This season, he had two assists and has been solid defensively.
4. STEVE COOK
The giant Bournemouth defender has always seen his impressive displays overlooked by football pundits in the Premier League. Apart from his two goals and one assist he has this season, he also has a high number of blocks, tackles and clearances on the EPL.
3. IDRISSA GUEYE
Idrissa Gueye has shown how relevant he is to Everton this season. Even Paris St. Germain was keenly interested in his services during the January transfer window. The 29-year-old Senegalese midfielder holds the highest number of tackles in the English Premier League. Needless to say, he never gets the same ratings as other Everton players.
2. MARC ALBRIGHTON
The English midfielder was an integral part of Leicester City’s 2016 Premier League winning team. However, he never got the same praises as other Leicester City players. This season, he has been spectacular for Leicester, scoring two goals and assisting another two. Albrighton has been instrumental to Leicester City’s Premier League stay and should be rated highly.
1. JESSE LINGARD
Jesse Lingard has never put a foot wrong at Manchester United. He has always delivered when called upon. Even this season alone he has four goals and two assists in 23 appearances, most of which were from the bench.
Jesse Lingard is an underrated player because he is never rated as highly as Lukaku, Sanchez or Rashford.
