In football, many fans give the strikers the glory, but goalkeepers also deserve some accolades too.

The job of a goalkeeper is not easy at all. The best goalkeepers can save their teams in crucial times. Their position requires profound mental and physical input, but goalkeepers are not generally given the praise they deserve. However, there are good goalkeepers that have made a name for themselves in the footballing world.

On that note, let us take a look at the five best goalkeepers in football of all-time.

5. Dino Zoff

Dino Zoff holds the record for the oldest football player ever to have won the World Cup. The Italian goalkeeper was 40 years old and the captain of his national team when he led Italy to the trophy back in 1982.

Zoff made 112 appearances for Italy and at one point went 1142 minutes without conceding a goal for Italy. Zoff also won six Serie A titles, and a UEFA Cup.

4.  Manuel Neuer

Manuel Neuer revolutionized football; he popularized the role of a sweeper keeper. The German goalkeeper won the World Cup with Germany in 2014 and was named as the best goalkeeper in the world that year.

Neuer is a goalkeeper with excellent reflexes and is very comfortable with the ball at his feet.

3. Lev Yashin

Lev Yashin was regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world during his playing days. The Russian goalkeeper was a legend between the sticks for both his club and the national team. Yashin spent the whole of his career playing at Dynamo Moscow in the USSR. He is widely known for his quick reflexes and his superb agility.

2. Iker Casillas

Casillas has won everything there is to win in football, at club and international level. Without a doubt, even deserves to be mentioned as one of the best goalkeepers of all time.

Casillas made his debut for Real Madrid at the age of 16 and has gone on to establish himself as the greatest goalkeeper of Spain. Casillas was famous for making excellent saves and incredible performances.

1. Gianluigi Buffon

The legendary Italian goalkeeper is one the best goalkeeper in the world. His numerous achievements speak for him. Like other great goalkeepers of all-time, he won the World Cup in 2006.

Buffon showed so many tremendous qualities in his prime. He was incredibly agile, had excellent timing and was a leader on the pitch. He is no doubt the best goalkeeper in the world of all-time.
