The 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League headed into the knockout stage this February with the last 16 matches already kicking off.

European giants Barcelona, Juventus, Paris St. Germain Bayern Munich and defending Champions Real Madrid are all ready to serve us an enthralling football battle this season. However, out of the remaining 16 teams left in the tournament, which teams stand the highest chance of lifting this year’s trophy?  We will give you 4 of them.

1. Manchester City

The English club has emerged as strong favourites to win their first Champions League this season. Pep Guardiola’s men have never lifted the prestigious European trophy and have another good chance of winning the competition. They easily topped a group that consisted of Lyon, Hoffenheim and Shakhtar Donetsk. They will face Schalke in the round of 16.

Guardiola has won the trophy with Barcelona and has been under pressure to repeat the success with the Citizens.

2. Barcelona

Barcelona last won the tournament in 2015 after defeating Juventus 3-1 in the final. This season, Barcelona has a clear objective which is to win the Champions League. Star striker, Lionel Messi will be hoping to lead his team to glory.

The Catalan giants topped a group that consisted of Tottenham, Ajax and Inter. They are one of the highest scoring Champions League side this season. In the round of 16, they will face a tricky game against Lyon.

3. Juventus

Juventus have reached the Champions League final twice in four years. This season, they stand a high chance of winning the trophy. Ronaldo joined the Italian side after winning three consecutive European Cup wins. Juventus also boost of many talented players like Mandzukić, Dybala and Bonucci.

Allegri’s side finished top of their group ahead of Manchester United and Valencia. They will face a stern test in Athletico Madrid in the round of 16.

4. Real Madrid

Real Madrid has won the Champions League three times in a row. Madrid’s league early form has not been excellent, and their group stage performance was indifferent. Real Madrid came top of their group ahead of Roma but was subjected to a shock 3-0 loss at home at the Bernabeu.

Nevertheless, The Spanish team should never be underestimated. They are capable of winning the Champions League for the fourth time in a row.
