Comebacks in football matches are never easy. This is because you need to have mental strength and willingness to overcome not only the score line which is against you, but also the atmosphere of the whole match which is negative once you are behind.

Liverpool however is no stranger to epic comebacks in the past with their latest against Barcelona proof how mentally strong they are.
The English team had made comebacks several times and here’s their top five times they did just that.

Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund

This UEFA Europa League quarter finals match saw Liverpool go down by two goals to Dortmund thanks to goals from Henrikh Mhhitaryan in the 5th minute and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 9th minute in the first half. Liverpool fought back and scored their first goal through Divock Origi in the 48th minute, but Dortmund’s Marcos Reus again scored to put it 3-1 for the visiting team to lead.

With the clock going in Dortmund’s favour Phillippe Coutinho struck Liverpool’s second goal in the 66th minute before Mamadou Sakho equalized for Liverpool the 77th minute.

Devan Lovren then headed in the winning goal for Liverpool during injury time to put Liverpool winners of the 2016 UEFA Europa League quarter finals match at 4-3.

Liverpool vs Barelona

Hailed as the ‘Miracle of Anfield’, this come back saw Liverpool’s comeback in the semifinals against Barcelona on 8 May 2019. While the comeback didn’t come a single match, trailing 3-0 to Barcelona on aggregate is good enough reason to feel that you’ve already lost the spot to the finals.

However, this was not the case for Liverpool that scored four goals courtesy of D. Origi and G. Wijnaldum in the second leg to overturn the deficit and earn a spot in the UEFA Champions League finals. is the third best in my observation.

Liverpool vs AC Milan

The Miracle of Istanbul saw Liverpool pull off one of the greatest comebacks the world had ever seen. Down 3-0 at half time to Italian giant AC Milan, Liverpool not canceled out AC Milan’s comfortable lead with goals from Steven Gerrard, Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso, they also proved they were mentally prepared to win the Champions League by dominating the shoot-out.
