3 Things We Learned From Arsenal’s Victory over Manchester United

Arsenal welcomed Manchester United to the Emirates in a crucial top-four clash on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal enjoyed a sensational 2-0 victory over Manchester United. Arsenal led with an early goal from a brilliant strike by Granit Xhaka strike. The Gunners dominated the game in the first half and even played better after the break. In the second half, Arsenal attacked United on the break when space opened up and scored a penalty through Aubameyang. Unai Emery’s men put up a very professional performance against The Red Devils.
Here are five things we learned from Arsenal vs. Manchester United.
1. Ozil fails to prove himself
Mesut Ozil was handed a rare start in today’s game against Manchester United. This came as a huge surprise, simply because Ozil had started games against weaker opposition, yet he was called upon in this crucial top four tie.
Ozil had an opportunity to prove himself in this game; he could have asserted himself as a Star player. However, that was not so. He was lackluster throughout the match and was deservedly substituted.
2. Bernd Leno proves himself
Unlike Mesut Ozil, Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno proved himself and showed glimpses of his tremendous quality on this game. Following an incredible performance against Tottenham at Wembley last Saturday, Leno showed Arsenal that he is their undisputed number 1.
He deserved the clean sheet after making two crucial saves. His quick reflexes were shown, and he was quick off his line to stop Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford from scoring.
3. Arsenal shows they have the potential
Six weeks ago, Arsenal was embarrassed at the Emirates by Manchester United in the FA Cup. In that game 9, Arsenal played very poorly and was dominated by United.
Today’s games were very different. Arsenal played with more tenacity and confidence. Unai Emery deployed better tactics and looked better ready to put up a fight. This is arguably Oneida their best wins this season so far, and it shows that this Arsenal team has the potential to go far.
