After topping the league for many months, Manchester City finally overtook them with a point to lead the Premier League table. However, Liverpool has been very impressive this season and looks set to win the Premier League for the first time since 1990.
Here are three strong reasons why Liverpool will win the Premier League this season.
1. Formidable attack
Liverpool has some of the most formidable attackers in the world right now. A lineup of Mané, Salah, and Firmino make up on the best-attacking trios in football. The three of them are capable of taking on any defense on their day.
Liverpool’s powerful attacking trio collectively scored close to 100 goals last season. This season, the three of them started well and have been scoring for fun. Liverpool’s formidable attack is one major reason why Liverpool will win the Premier League.
2. Manchester City is slightly inconsistent this season
Pep Guardiola’s men won the Premier League last season with aplomb. They were incredibly winning games back to back. However, this season Manchester City has been very inconsistent in its performances.
Manchester City has suffered three defeats this season, including surprising back-to-back losses against Crystal Palace and Leicester. They have also drawn matches too
Therefore it will not come as a surprise to see City go through a bit of a lull and their form dip last in the dying minutes of the season.
3. A strong backline
One of the biggest weaknesses of the Reds has always been their defense. Over the last decade, they have dropped vital points in some crucial moments of the League due to careless errors made by their backline.
This season, however, is different. The signing of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton seemed to have tightened Liverpool’s defense. The powerful Dutchman has been a Rick for Liverpool this season. He single-handedly transformed Liverpool’s defense to the best in the League. Currently, they have only conceded just 15 goals this season.
