It has been a remarkable season in Spanish football, and many players made huge impressions. FC Barcelona are the La Liga champions after seeing off challenges from close rivals Athletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

This season was also the debut season for many players in the La Liga. Playing for the first time in one of the toughest leagues in Europe isn’t easy at all. Nonetheless, some players managed to impress in their first season.

Here are three best newcomers in the La Liga this season.

1. Arthur Melo

The former Gremio midfielder transferred from the Brazilian League to Spanish giants, Barcelona. The young midfielder came into the team knowing he had to compete for his place among a pool of talented players.

Early in the season, he didn’t start every game and mostly came off the bench. However, when he was finally given his chance, he took it. He became a regular at the left side of Ernesto Valverde’s midfield. Arthur had a spectacular season with Barça and played a massive role in their League triumph.

2. Vinicius Júnior

Like Arthur, Vinicius Júnior was another Brazilian who transferred from the Brazilian League to the La Liga. He was bought by Real Madrid for a huge transfer fee many years earlier when he was only 16. Immediately he turned 18, Vinicius was called to Real Madrid.

Life began slowly for the talented whizkid, as he found himself on the bench in most games under the coach, Lopetegui. However, after Lopetegui was sacked Vinicius stepped up to become a starter for under Santiago Solari. The teenager was in splendid form for Madrid and was a constant goal threat for the Los Blancos. An injury in the Champions League ruled him out for the remainder of the League.

3. Arturo Vidal

The Chilean midfielder shocked many fans when he moved to Barcelona. A combative central midfielder, Vidal has already played in the Italian and German Leagues.

In his first year in the La Liga with Barça, many people expected him to play a fringe role in the team. However, Arturo Vidal went in to become a key member of the squad under Valverde. His tenacity and aggressiveness helped Barcelona reclaim the La Liga title this season.
