Kyle Walker

For every playing position in the football world, there’s always a set of players doing exceedingly great there, including the right-back position. Here are the Top 5 right-backs in the world right now.

1. Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich & Germany)

Joshua Kimmich is by far one of the best right-backs in the world so far this season with his impressive performance. One of the hardest decisions for Bayern Munich a few months ago is finding a replacement for their great player Philipp Lahm, who retired in 2017 but immediately they signed Kimmich, he has proved himself an excellent defender and perfect long-term replacement for the legend perfectly despite his tender age. The 24-year-old is indeed an excellent footballer such that he is much disciplined, and individual mistakes are rare. He has also strengthened Bayern Munich’s defense line, and that’s one of the reasons the club keeps waxing stronger day by day.

2. Kyle Walker (Manchester City & England)

Kyle Walker is an ambitious footballer who currently plays as a right-back in Manchester City & England. The 28-year-old ever since joining city with a record fee of £50 million has grown from strength, and his positive impact can never be overemphasized at his club side and National team. He is well known for his extreme speed, excellent strength, and quality crosses, all of which were instrumental to Man. City’s triumph in the recently concluded season.

3. Sime Vrsaljko [Inter Milan & Croatia]

This list would be extremely shallow if it fails to feature this astonishing player – Sime Vrsalko. He plays good football for his club side, and he also performed excellently at the last edition of FIFA World Cup, where his country was able to reach the final stage before being demolished by France. However, despite his impressive performances, it was still surprising to see Athletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone loan him to Inter Millan a few months ago. Part of the things that distinguish Sime Vrsalko include his aggressive playing style, good work rate, extreme speed, great stamina, good passing ability, incredible crossing, good anticipation and positioning, good tackling ability, good interceptions, among others. If Sime Vrsaljko keeps improving on those mentioned above, he is sure to become the Best Right-back in the world very soon, and besides that, he also proved to be a long-term replacement for Juanfran.

4. Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid & Germany)

Dani Carvajal is a fine footballer playing as a right-back in the Spanish La Liga [Real Madrid to be specific]. The 27-year-old is renowned for his consistency, speed, strength, strong attacking flair, incredible passing ability, and superb crossing – all of which are required in a decent right-back. Carvajal is doing well for his club side except for the fact that he is prone to injury and also his attacking boldness to seem to have declined a bit ever since Ronaldo left Madrid.

5. Thomas Meunier (Paris Saint Germain & Belgium)

Thomas Meunier currently plays for PSG in the Ligue 1 as a right-back. The incredible player ever since joining his present club side from Brugge in 2016 is forced to compete with older, more experienced players such as Dani Alves and Serge Aurier, and for this reason, he was only able to make 44 total appearances for PSG in the last two seasons. However, even though Thomas Meunier is faced with this intense competition, he performed excellently in the few appearances he made over the previous seasons. He is also believed to become the number one choice in his position since his major counterpart, Dani Alves will soon retire.
