Tony Mowbray says Blackburn will show League Two side Crewe the right amount of respect when they meet in Tuesday’s FA Cup second round replay.

The Lancashire outfit coasted into a 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes when they hosted Crewe on December 3 at Ewood Park but the game was turned on its head courtesy of a double sending off for Blackburn.

Crewe pulled on back prior to the half time whistle before scoring twice in the space of three minutes in the second period to secure a replay back at Gresty Road.

Championship side Hull await the winners in the third round of the FA Cup and Mowbray insists his men won’t allow any complacency to slip into their game this time as they look to secure progression.

Mowbray said: “We have to be respectful of Crewe, who showed in the first game that they have good players.

“We’ll pick a team to get through the tie and face a Championship team in the next round.”

However, Mowbray won’t be able to name his strongest eleven with injuries preventing the likes of Peter Whittingham and Corry Evans from being involved..

He added: “It terms of injuries, Peter [Whittingham]’s a concern with a calf strain.

“We’ll assess him over the next few weeks, but he’s probably out between two to three weeks.

“Corry [Evans]’s injury was an impact one, but there’s no damage in terms of muscular or anything like that, we just need the wound to sort itself out. We’ll look at him maybe Thursday or Friday to see how he is.”

Blackburn are priced at 1.73 to pick up the win and book their place in round three of the FA Cup, while Crewe can be backed at 4.33, and the draw is available at 3.80.
