The Welshman’s 11-year career at Arsenal will come to an end this summer, as Aaron Ramsey has agreed to join Italian champions Juventus on a four-year deal.
There is no doubt that Ramsey was a pivotal player for Arsenal and scored vital goals for The Gunners. Even though he is about to leave, the 28-year-old played a key role in the Arsenal midfield and replacing him will be imperative to Unai Emery, this transfer window.
Here are five players who could replace Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal next season.
1. Nabil Fekir
The 2018 World Cup winner would be an upgrade knowing Aaron Ramsey. He has bagged 12 goals and seven assists this season for Lyon.
Fekir would link up perfectly with French compatriot Alexandre Lacazette and striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the Arsenal forward line.
2. James Maddison
The 22-year-old Englishman has been utterly fantastic in his first year in the Premier League for Leicester. He gained an international cap with England as well, and has scored seven times and assisted six more.
Although, Maddison does not have the same energy in midfield as Ramsey and is not good defensively, however, Maddison is lethal from set pieces and scores better than Aaron Ramsey.
3. Piotr Zielinski
One surprise player who could replace Aaron Ramsey is Piotr Zielinski.
The Polish playmaker has been in excellent form this season for Napoli who are currently second in Serie A. Zielinski is a perfect playmaker, with a good eye for passes and creates chances. Unai Emery would have the perfect opportunity to evaluate the Poland international as Arsenal face Napoli in the Europa League.
4. Tanguy Ndombele
The 22-year-old has attracted interest from many of the top clubs in Europe after he had two excellent seasons in the Lyon midfield and he could be a success at the Emirates.
Ndombele is a much more physical presence in the midfield than Aaron Ramsey, something that Arsenal do not have, although he does not score as much as Ramsey’s. The French international only netted six goals in his entire club career so far.
5. Denis Suarez
The former Barcelona man would definitely be a perfect replacement for Aaron Ramsey. He is good with the ball on his feet and can dribble than most of the Arsenal players.
Denis Suarez has been used very little by Unai Emery this season. The young Spanish midfielder just needs more game time and confidence from his manager.
