Sabah FA sweating over their Brazilian striker availability

The all-important Borneo Derby again Sarawak FA this Saturday may see Sabah without ace striker Luiz Carlos Junior.

According a news report carried out by Utusan Borneo, Junior has not been able to fully train with the Tembadaus up to yesterday as he is still nursing an injury.

It was reported that Junior is experiencing a thigh muscle injury and he is likely to be left out of the team playing against Sarawak.

Sarawak head coach Julius Ating however is hopeful that Junior would gain his full fitness before the match, adding that he would like to have all his foreign players available for the important Liga Premier match.

The experience Sabahan coach however admitted that Junior’s availability for the match remains doubtful as for now.

Junior was a former under-17 Brazil football player before he extended his professional career in Botafogo.

He then went to play for several Indonesian football clubs which include Persija Jakarta before joining Jordanian club Al-Jazeera.

This season, Junior joined Sabah and has been influential to the North Borneo side.

His debuted in Game Week 2 of the Liga Malaysia when Sabah played against Kelantan FA and started for Sabah in Game Week 3 when they faced Terengganu FC II.

He was however stretched out of the match against Terengganu in the 30th minute due to a muscle injury and has not been able to join Sabah players for full training ever since.

According to Julius, shall Junior fail to recover in time for the match against Sabah, he would play Ricco Nigel Milus in Junior’s position.

Sabah currently sits at fifth position in the Liga Premier with nine points, and they are looking forward to continuing their winning momentum against Sarawak FA when they travel to Stadium Negeri this Saturday.
