Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has urged his team-mates to learn their lessons and move on from their defeat to Valencia when they prepare to take on Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon.

The Hoops suffered a 2-0 reverse at Parkhead in the Europa League on Thursday after crucial defensive errors allowed Los Che to claim the advantage after the first leg.

Goals from Denis Cheryshev and Ruben Robrino put Valencia in total control ahead of the second leg next week, but Christie insists his team cannot dwell on the result.

The youngster enjoyed the experience of playing against world class players, although he is determined to treat the defeat as a huge learning curve.

He told the Scotsman: “Going into the Valencia game, one of the things you’re looking forward to is coming up against top-class players.

While we are all really deflated and disappointed at the result, when you look back at it you need to make sure it’s not just a defeat, it’s something to learn from.

“They punished us for every mistake we made and we need to learn from that, because teams in Europe are going to do that to you. It’s a learning curve.

“But we don’t have much time to think about it, we need to switch on for Kilmarnock. But we’ll turn it around and be positive by the time we get to the game over there.”

Celtic are strong 1.44 favourites to win the match on Sunday, while a 3-0 win has been boosted from 9.50 to 12.00.
