West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini insists he expects Marko Arnautovic to return to his best form after he signed a new deal with the club.

The Austria international was linked with two clubs in the Chinese Super League with one of the unnamed clubs having a £31.5million bid rejected earlier this month.

Fans still expected him to leave due to his comments in the press via his agent but the Hammers revealed he signed a new contract at the London Stadium.

After missing the defeats to Bournemouth and Wimbledon, he is expected to return against Wolves on Tuesday and Pellegrini is expecting a big display.

He told Football London: “We hope there is more to come because I think Marko, his normal performance must be as he did in the second half of last season when he was involved in every game and scoring goals and participating in previous play.

“I think he is a player who has a lot of quality and now he must be consistent during the whole game and all the games.

“He is a player who always wants to give his best and maybe he has a special mind that does not allow him to be 100 per cent concentrated during the game but every other player has another problem. I think the personality is not a problem.

“He must try to improve different things. Every player has moments in the game when they are not 100% concentrated but finally, we must analyse his performance during the whole year.”

Wolves are 2.10 favourites, with the draw 3.40, while West Ham can be backed at odds of 3.75.
