Manchester United star Lindelof has signed a new five-year deal and committed his future to the club until at least 2024.

Swedish professional footballer, Victor Lindelof has penned down a new five-year contract at Manchester United.

The 25-year-old centre-back has committed his future to the Red Devils, with a deal which duns from now until the summer of 2024, and comes with the option of a further year’s extension.

He has made 74 appearances for United since joining from the Portuguese League in Benfica back in 2017. He has also been quite impressive under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since his appointment at Old Trafford last season.

Lindelof said while speaking to the club’s website: “Since the day I came to United, it has felt like home. I have grown in leaps both as a player and as a person over the last two years and for that, I am grateful to everyone at United for their help and support.

“I love playing football and my focus now is to help the team to win trophies and repay the supporters and fans for their unrivalled support.

“I know that everyone at the club all has this vision and will give their all to get Manchester United back to where it belongs.

”I’m still young and believe I can improve further but with the help of the manager and his coaching staff, I believe that only good things are coming in the future for this great club.”

In 2017, Lindelof moved to Manchester United from Benfica in a deal said to be worth up to £40 million. During his first season, he made 29 appearances in all competitions and struggled for form and consistency as he had to deal with the competition from the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

However, when Solskjaer was appointed as coach, he flourished under his reign. Right now Lindelof will be looking to cement his role in the defence alongside new defensive partner Harry Maguire.

Manchester United will now head to the London Stadium on Renault Super Sunday to play West Ham for their next Premier League game.
