Rafinha’s father and agent has revealed Inter Milan have missed the opportunity to sign his son on a permanent deal and confirmed other opportunities are now being looked at.

Brazil international Rafinha missed the first half of last season after undergoing surgery for an internal meniscus ailment picked up in a match against Granada in April 2017.

The 25-year-old, who arrived at the Camp Nou in 2006 as a youth player, was shipped out on loan to Italian outfit Inter in January for the second part of the 2017/18 campaign.

He made 17 Serie A appearances, scoring two goals in the process, and the midfielder quickly became a fans’ favourite during his temporary stint at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The Nerazzurri did have the option to make the loan permanent for 35million euros but Rafinha’s father has revealed the Brazilian, who looks almost certain to leave the Catalans this summer, is now looking at other avenues after Inter passed on signing him.

“Milan was always our priority but time has run out,” Marzinho told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We couldn’t afford to wait any longer, now it’s only right for us to look around.

He loved it at Inter, he adapted immediately and the fans took to him with affection and enthusiasm. “Unfortunately, we’ve had no signals from the club.

It’s a shame because it would’ve been a chance to play for Inter in Europe after conquering it on the pitch.”

Inter are 10.00 to win the Serie A title next season, Roma, who have been very busy during this transfer window, are priced at 7.00 whilst defending champions Juventus are the heavy 1.70 favourites to triumph again.
