Full 2019 Copa America Quarterfinals Fixtures Announced

After the last round of group matches of the 2019 Copa America, were concluded yesterday, the fixtures for the quarter-finals have been announced.

In yesterday’s game, Uruguay defeated Chile to top group C, while Ecuador’s 1-1 draw with Japan meant that Paraguay progressed as the second group best losers.

Here are the 2019 Copa quarter-final fixtures:

Brazil vs. Paraguay

Venezuela vs. Argentina

29 June 2019

Colombia vs Chile

Uruguay vs Peru

The first match of the quarterfinals will see tournament favorites, Brazil clash with Paraguay. Brazil are yet to concede in the tournament, after winning two games and drawing one in the group stages. The Selecao have scored 8 goals so far including, 5 in one game against Peru. Paraguay qualified fortunately as the best third-placed team, after drawing two matches against Qatar and Argentina. Although Brazil is a huge favorite to win this tie, the Paraguayan team can cause an upset.

The second quarterfinal game will see Argentina come up against Venezuela. Lionel Messi’s team needed to win their last game against Qatar to ensure qualification into the quarterfinals. They will face a tough opposition in Venezuela, who are unbeaten in the competition.

The big match fixture will see Colombia trade tackles with Chile. Chile are still looking good retain the trophy for the third consecutive time. They won their first two matches of the tournament, and were on course to advance to the next round of the competition as winners of Group C, but lost to Uruguay in the last game and finished at second place.

Uruguay will face Peru in the last quarterfinal match. Uruguay is also unbeaten in the competition, after topping their group with two wins and a draw. They are a compact team with a solid defense and experienced strikers. Peru on the other hand qualified as a best third-placed team. They lost 5-0 to Brazil and won only one game against Bolivia in the group.
