Fulham has not won a single match in three Championship games ahead of the weekend trip to Sheffield Wednesday. Here are some key areas they need to address.

Scott Parker’s side started the season as the favoured one for a promotion due to their highly formidable squad. Many other teams in the Championship do not have the likes of Ivan Cavaleiro, Anthony Knockaert and Aleksandar Mitrovic. However, they seem to br doing bettter than the Cottagers.

Fulham, after seven games in this campaign, has won just two of their fixtures in the league and are sitting in 11th which is not good enough.

And the draw against West Brom (1-1) last time covered their mixed start to the season.

Though there are some positives. They won possession against West Brom and the way they moved across the pitch was well balanced and the three attacking players looked unstoppable.

Even though they played very well, the only goal they scored against West Bromwich happened because of a cross by Knockaert that deceived the keeper.

That’s the first issue with Parker’s side, they were not cool enough even though they are talented.

Though 11 goals in seven games are good, four are against Millwall and three in their last three.

Fulham’s opponents will be going against them with the same game plan, which is to sit deep, contain and counter with speed and it’s becoming a slight issue in the way they struggle to break them down.

They should be able to handle most of them, the quality in the final third, backed up by the classy Tom Cairney in midfield, is the best we have seen at this level on paper for some time.

An even bigger problem is their inability to manage their mistakes. Though they are always in control of possession, they lack game management right now and are making bad mistakes. On Saturday, it was conceded from a ball into the box and there is a real soft aspect to this team.

They need to put more effort to keep the ball out.

The manager needs to be responsible for that and his substitutions are seen to be reactive rather than proactive.

Fulham’s team should be good enough to finish in the top two in the Championship, but their behaviour needs to be checked before it is too late.
