Sabah FA are on a very positive course to claim their first league championship since 1996.

The victory against PDRM FA last night was a hard fought one with PDRM scoring first in the 32nd minute through Lee Chang-Hoon.

Sabah however managed to equalize in the 76th minute through their import player Rodoljub Paunovic, before local boy Alto Linus grabed the winning goal in the 82nd minute.

Alto’s goal ensure Sabah gained the much needed points to stay ahead in the Liga Premier, giving them a one point advanatage over Johor Darul Ta’zim FC II which is second in the standings.

Not only that, the win against PDRM last night extends Sabah undefeated streak in the Liga Premier to seven matches with the side scheduled to meet Borneo rivals Sarawak FA at home next on the 26th of June 2019.

Sarawak’s luck are opposites of Sabah’s this season with the 2013 Liga Premier champions struggling in the relegation zone.

Their latest home match against club side UKM FC saw Sarawak go down 3-1, extending Sarawak’s win-less streak to seven in the domestic league.

Even more worrying, Sarawak now only has ten points in the league and are bottom of the table with little hope for survival with the gap to safety moving away even further.

Sarawak also currenly hold the most goal against in the league, a statistic that shows how pourous the defences of Sarawak had been this season.

Based on their most recent game, Sarawak needs vast improvements if they do want to match Sabah in the up-coming local derby in Likas as the Rhinos will show little mercy in their quest to win the league this season.

That said, the up-coming Borneo Derby between Sarawak and Sabah is a very one sided on paper and Sarawak would need to ensure they improve their defending if they want to get anything from the match.
