Blackburn-Rovers-Tony-Mowbray

Tony Mowbray says he will look for quality rather than quantity in the current window as he does not want to stockpile his Blackburn squad.

After a shaky start, Rovers have not lost in League One since October, a run that has helped take them to third in the table and put them right in the promotion hunt.

Mowbray has added loanees Jack Payne and Adam Armstrong so far this month, while Paul Downing has also signed a permanent deal.

More new faces have been linked but Mowbray is cautious not to upset the balance of his squad by introducing too many arrivals in such a short space of time.

Saturday sees Blackburn travel to the coast to take on Fleetwood in a game they are 2.00 to win, with the draw 3.25 and the Cod Army priced at 4.00.

The pair played out an eventful 2-2 draw in October but the Ewood outfit, who are 4.20 to top League One, will be confident, especially with Uwe Rosler’s men having played in midweek in the FA Cup.

Mowbray says he and the club’s hierarchy are working hard on deals all the time, but admits they are wary of bringing in too many new players as they are keen to avoid spoiling the current atmosphere within the dressing room.

“You don’t want to overfill your football club with quality players who you can’t get on the pitch. The numbers have to be right,” the boss told iFollow Rovers.

“You’ll end up disappointing people all the time. We’re working hard behind the scenes and the more quality you have then the better chance you have, particularly in changing things with strong substitutions.”
