Antonio Conte was pleased to see his Chelsea side progress through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup as they needed a stoppage-time winner to see off Bournemouth 2-1.

The Blues had appeared to be in for a comfortable evening at Stamford Bridge when Willian gave them a 13th-minute lead, but they failed to put the game to bed and were pegged back in the last minute of the match by a superb striker from Cherries midfielder Dan Gosling.

However, Chelsea showed their winning mentality, as they immediately regained the lead from the restart thanks to a strike from substitute Alvaro Morata and Bournemouth had no time to respond.

Chelsea’s reward for reaching the semi-finals will be a two-legged tie with Arsenal in the New Year and Conte was pleased to see his much-changed side book their place in the latter stages of the cup competition.

The Italian told reporters: “We must be happy with this achievement, to reach a semi-final in one of the two cups in England.

It is great for us, especially because we reached the semi-final with a lot of rotation.”

One blow for Chelsea was the news that match-winner Morata will miss Saturday’s Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season for over-celebrating his winning goal.

Chelsea are priced at 1.67 to secure all three points on Saturday, while Everton, who have been in resurgent form of late, are available at 5.50 and the draw is on offer at 3.80.
