The 2019 UEFA Champions League final is finally here. On Saturday the 1st of June 2019, English Premier League teams Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool will clash for the ultimate trophy of European club football. The match is set to take place in the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

Last season’s Champions League runner-up Liverpool will be aiming to win their sixth Champions League trophy while Tottenham plays for its first Champions League final, and will want to win.

Here is the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League match preview between Tottenham and Liverpool.

Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspurs finished second in their Champions League group that included Barcelona and Inter Milan. In the round of 16, they blazed past Borussia Dortmund, winning 4-0 on aggregate. In the quarterfinals and semifinals, Tottenham needed to qualify on away goals against Manchester City and Ajax. They had a fantastic comeback against Ajax in the second leg inspired by Lucas Moura.

Tottenham is the dark horse of the tournament. They can hurt any team with their quick football and hard pressing. Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be hoping that Harry Kane will be back to full fitness for the game.

Liverpool

There is no doubt that Liverpool has been completely mesmerizing this season, and it is hard to imagine that Jurgen Klopp’s side could end up finishing the season without a trophy to their name.

Liverpool’s path to the final has been exciting. Liverpool finished ahead of Napoli and behind PSG in a ‘group of death.’ They eliminated Bayern Munich 3-1 on aggregate in the round of 16 and breezed past Porto 6-1 on aggregate. In the semifinals, they pulled off the impossible. After having lost the first leg 3-0 against Barcelona, they shocked the whole world by defeating Barcelona 4-0, to book a place in the final.

Jurgen Klopp has vast experience in Europe; he took his former club Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final in 2013, Liverpool to the Europa League final in 2016 and the Champions League final last year. But unfortunately, he lost all three of those finals.

This year the story could be different; he has a solid squad and an outstanding goalkeeper.

HEAD TO HEAD

Tottenham have played seven matches against Liverpool in the Champions League losing four, drawing two, and winning one.

We all expect another thrilling match in Madrid on Saturday. Both teams play entertaining football and score a lot of goals.
