5 Favourites to win the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League

As the new UEFA Europa League season starts, we look at the teams who are likely to win the trophy.

The 2019/2020 Europa League season will soon be underway, as ‘Europe’s secondary tournament will serve us another season of spectacular football.

This year’s edition promises to be action-packed and mouthwatering. Top English Premier League teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Wolves are going to playing this season. Each of them will be emulated Chelsea by lifting the trophy this season.

Here are the five teams who are favoured to lift the Europa League

5. Sevilla

The Spanish La Liga club are always hot favourites for the Europa League. This time will be aiming to win a record sixth Europa League title.

Sevilla has had unprecedented success in this competition. They have won the tournament five times since 2006, and consecutively between 2014 and 2016. Sevilla are now being coached by former Real Madrid and Spain coach Julen Lopetegui. They have also have spent over £130m this summer transfer window to bolster their squad.

4. Arsenal

The Gunners were last ‘season’s runners-up, and this time will be aiming to clinch the trophy this season under multiple Europa League-winning coach, Unai Emery. The former Sevilla coach won three consecutive trophies with them between 2014 and 2016, and also guided Arsenal to a first European final in 13 years last season.

Arsenal has added the likes of Dani Ceballos, David Luiz and Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.

3.  Lazio

Lazio has been regular in the Europa League in recent seasons, are regarded amongst the favourites to win the second most prestigious European club trophy.

Lazio boasts of duo Ciro Immobile, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who are both will be integral to their hopes of lifting the trophy. Lazio are becoming a solid side, and after last ‘season’s Copa Italia triumph, they will look to improve on that.

2. AS Roma

The Italian club boasts of exciting young talents such as Nicolo Zaniolo and Cengiz Under. They also have the services experienced veterans like Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi. This combination makes the huge favourites to wear the crown.

Manchester United were winners of the Europa League under Jose Mourinho in 2017, and are now back in the Europa League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has strengthened his squad with the signing of Harry Maguire, and highly-rated full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
