5 Biggest Transfers of the 2019 Summer Window

The 2019 summer transfer window is all but over after a busy summer for all clubs across Europe. We take a look at the biggest transfer deals that happened.
It is worthy to note that the top five leagues in Europe reportedly spent combined £5bn in the 2019 summer transfer window, which is a record. That number was a rise of over £800m on the previous summer transfer window set in 2018.
The English Premier League clubs were the big spenders, spending over £1.41bn.
Spanish La Liga clubs spent £1.24bn in 2019, which is double the amount they spent in 2017.
Other clubs in the Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and French Ligue 1 also broke new transfer records in their leagues during this window.
5. Wissam Ben Yedder (Monaco, £36m)
Monaco suffered a disappointing season in Ligue 1 last season after they finished 17th and just two points clear of the relegation zone.
This led to Monaco spending big in the summer transfer window. France international striker Wissam Ben Yedder was bought from Monaco from Sevilla on a five-year deal.
4. Lucas Hernandez (Bayern Munich, £68m)
Bayern Munich signed the French international from Athletico Madrid for a staggering fee of £68m or ($90m).
The 23-year-old was part of the French team that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Athletico certainly made good use of the money they got for the young defender, as you will see.
3. Romelu Lukaku (Inter Milan, £74m)
It came as a surprise to many when Manchester United decided to let go of their big striker Romelu Lukaku this summer. What came as more surprise was the amount Inter Milan paid to sign him.
Lukaku was clearly in Antonio Conte’s plans for the new Serie A season and was subsequently signed.
2. Harry Maguire (Man Utd, £80m)
It was only two years ago that Leicester City purchased Harry Maguire for £12m from Hull City. Today they have now sold him on for a massive profit, a world-record for a defender.
Manchester United was willing to part with £80m pounds go bring the defender to Old Trafford.
1. Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid, £113m)
One of the biggest and most successful deals of the summer has to be the signing of Portuguese wonder kid Joao Felix.
Felix had a tremendous season with Benfica last season, no wonder Diego Simeone wanted him at the Madrid club. His total transfer cost about £113m plus add ons.
